But Huddersfield, who are rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table and are without a win in their first six games, will be looking to capitalise on Spurs’ uncertain start when they meet at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
“It’s probably a good thing that we face them now,” Williams, 29, said. “They’ve not had the best start to the season but we all know that Tottenham are one of the best teams in the Premier League.
“Playing against them last season was one of the toughest games I’ve played. Their work-rate is amazing, every player works so hard for the other players and they showed us last year at home what we can expect when they destroyed us.
“But I hope we learn from that game and at the end of the day it’s about us. We shouldn’t make it easy for them because they should still remember that Huddersfield is not an easy place to go to. Williams has made 23 appearances for the U.S. national team but his debut season for Huddersfield following a summer move from Reading was disrupted by injuries.
He missed the final few months of last season after suffering a fractured fibula and has yet to make a Premier League appearance this season.
