Pep Guardiola has refused to rule out targeting another midfielder in the transfer window after missing out on Chelsea’s Jorginho.

Algerian winger Riyad Mahrez is the only addition to his squad this summer after joining for a club record £60 million.

Guardiola allowed defensive midfielder Yaya Toure to leave in the summer and wants a replacement. Italy international Jorginho was identified as his top target with a deal agreed before he later decided to move to Stamford Bridge from Napoli.

“No, were not disappointed, We tried. We thought already it was done. My advice is for players to go where they want to go,” he told a news conference ahead of Friday’s International Champions Cup clash with Borussia Dortmund (9:05 p.m. ET, ESPN2).

“It would have been a mistake if he’d come here when he wanted to go to Maurizio [Sarri] and Chelsea. English football received an exceptional player at the end. If they don’t want to come it’s better they don’t come. All the best for him.cheap new nike nfl jerseys

“We’ll decide on the last day. We have solutions we have Fernandinho, [Ilkay] Gundogan, Oleksandr [Zinchenko], [Fabian] Delph. We have young players who can play, we’ll see, Douglas Luiz, Claudio Gomes so we’ll see.”

Zinchenko spent much of last season as an emergency left-back following the cruciate knee ligament injury suffered by Benjamin Mendy.6

But newly-promoted clubs Wolves and Fulham are both interested in the Ukraine international and he said he has not yet made a decision on his future.

“At this moment, I play for Manchester City and I’m so happy to be part of this team. You never know what will happen in the future but we’ll see,” Zinchenko said.

A number of young players will get the chance to impress Guardiola while senior players Joe Hart and Jason Denayer have returned from loan spells to be part of the preseason squad.

Hart is looking for a permanent move away from the Etihad Stadium, after successive season-long loans at Torino and West Ham, but the City boss has been impressed by his attitude.

“Joe is our player, we will try and find solution,” Guardiola said.new nike nfl jerseys for sale cheap¬† “If not, he will stay here. He’s a great professional, he is training like an 18 year-old. I know it’s not easy for him.”

The vast majority of his first team will join up when they are back in Manchester. But Guardiola is philosophical about his preparations for the start of the season despite the Premier League opener against Arsenal on Aug. 12, two weeks after their return.
