Ashley Young has warned Premier League leaders Liverpool that Manchester United will attack from the start at Anfield on Sunday.
United manager Jose Mourinho has said slow starts have been a key reason for his team’s disappointing league position but, after a change of tack against Arsenal and Fulham, Young is keen to maintain the momentum and inflict Liverpool’s first league defeat of the season.nfl nike jerseys cheap china
“Everyone knows what the Liverpool games are like,” Young said. “We should play exactly the way we’ve shown [against Fulham in a 4-1 home win on Saturday], go there and play the way the manager wants to play.
“It is never an easy game when you go to Anfield. We want to be on the front foot. That first half [against Fulham] we were. I was a little bit disappointed when we came off after the game, because I thought we could have got more goals.
“It’s one of those things. We’ve got to take the positives out of the game, and there were so many more positives than negatives.”
United’s chances are all but over, with Mourinho’s side 16 points behind the leaders and facing a battle for a place in the top four.
“When you join a club like Manchester United, as soon as you walk through the door, if you don’t know the history, give it a week you will know the history,” Young said.
“You get that feel of the club, you know the size of the club. For me it’s the biggest club in the world — always has been, always will be. It’s all about winning trophies, silverware.
“I’ve been part of that and we’ve had successful years in the last couple of years. I still want trophies, still want to win things, and that’s what everyone in the squad wants.
“We’re out there to win games and trophies for this fantastic club. If we can put on performances like that, then I don’t think it is far away.cheap nike nfl jerseys paypal
“We’ve got a lot of games coming up in the Christmas period — it’s the time where you pick up points.”
Young has become a key member of Mourinho’s squad and captained the team against Fulham. The 33-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and will be allowed to negotiate with clubs outside England from January.
Sources have told ESPN FC that United have opened talks over a new deal, and Young is hopeful he will get the chance to stay.
“It’s up to the club,” he said. “I feel as fit as when I was 21 years old. As long as my legs can keep taking me up and down the pitch, I’d love to stay here.”
